  • General Info

    Mucopain® Gel is produced by Icpa. The raw material is Benzocaine, a local anesthetic widely used to provide relief from topical pain.

    - local anesthesia of mild pain of all accessible mucous membrane, except eyes;

    - local relief of pain due to minor dental procedures, dental conditions (canker sores);

    - oral mucosal anesthesia to manage pain of oropharyngeal disorders or inhibit the pharyngeal and tracheal gag reflex;

    - local anesthesia of accessible mucous membranes before examination, endoscopy or instrumentation;

    - self-medication of dental pain due to teething (for temporary relief only).

    MOA (mechanism of action):

    Benzocaine penetrates the oral mucosa and blocks of nerve signals, which is achieved by inhibiting the VDSCs (voltage dependent sodium channels) that are found on the nerves. This, in turn, prevents the pain signals from being sent to the brain. Benzocaine is commonly used in condoms to prolong sexual activity. This is beneficial for men who suffer from PE (premature ejaculation).

    Wash your hands before and after you use Mucopain® Gel.

    Apply gel to the treated area by using cotton, a cotton swab, or a clean fingertip.

    Depending on the size of area to be treated, apply 0,2-0,5 ml of the Mucopain® Gel with an applicator.

    If a dental procedure takes place, the gel is rubbed into the lining of the mouth or the gums.

    Mucopain® Gel usually starts working within 10 to 30 seconds and causes a tingling followed by numbness.

    The numbness will usually last for only 10-15 minutes and will disappear shortly after the procedure has finished.

    Excess applied amount of Mucopain® Gel is dangerous and may put the patient at an increased risk of pulmonary aspiration. It is very important to apply the correct amount each time.

    Do not use Mucopain® Gel in children younger than 2 years old without consulting the doctor or dentist.

    Do not cover the affected area with cotton or other material.

    Do not eat or drink for at least 1 hour after using Mucopain® Gel.

    Do not use Mucopain® Gel within 1 hour of your previous dose or use more than 4 times per day, unless your doctor or dentist tells you otherwise.

    Do not use longer than 7 days without checking with your doctor or dentist.

    Avoid contact Mucopain® Gel with the eyes because numbness in the eyes may prevent you from noticing if you get something in your eye. If you unintentionally get Mucopain® Gel in your eye, immediately rinse it well with lukewarm water or salt (sodium chloride) solution.

    Missing a dose

    Mucopain® Gel is used only when needed, therefore missed dosages are not relevant. Do not exceed the doctor's recommended dose. Do not apply a double dose of Mucopain® Gel.

    If an overdose occurs and you are feeling unwell, you should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.

    Store at room temperature up to 30 degrees C (86 degrees F) and away from excess moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
