What is this medicine?

Ashiver Plus - veterenarian tablets, containing 2 mg of Ivermectin and 50 mg of Praziquantel, which treat and control parasitism caused by nematodes, tapeworms, roundworm, hookworms, whipworms, ectoparasites such as mites that cause scabies, ticks, blood sucking lice and fleas on cats and dogs.

What is the composition of this medicine?

Each tablet contains :

  • Ivermectin - 2 mg
  • Praziquantel - 50 mg

What are the indications for using this medicine?

For the treatment of certain types of external (e.g., mites) and internal parasites in many different species of adult dogs, puppies and cats:

  • Ivermectin is a member of the macrocytic lactone class of parasiticides. It is commonly used as a heartworm preventative in small animals and for the treatment of certain types of external (e.g., mites) and internal parasites in many different species. The difference between the safe use of ivermectin and poisoning is all about the dose and an animal’s inherent sensitivity to the drug. Some dogs carry a gene (MDR1 or ABCB1) that makes doses of ivermectin and other drugs that are safe for the general population dangerous to those individuals.

  • Praziquantel is prescribed by a veterinarian to treat tapeworms in pets. Tapeworms are spread by ingesting a flea or louse that has in turn ingested a tapeworm egg. A flea preventative may also be prescribed in conjunction with administration of Praziquantel to prevent any future tapeworm infections.

What should I watch for while using this medicine?

Do not exceed the recommended dose when treating pregnant bitches. It is recommended that a veterinary surgeon is consulted before treating pregnant animals for roundworms. Please consult your veterinarian before giving any other antihelmintic (deworming) drug or herbal supplement to your pet while on, or before giving Ashiver Plus.

What side effects may I notice from this medicine?

Ashiver Plus must be administrated following the prescibed dosage. In case of the overdose, your pet may experience vomiting, diarrhea or loose stool, loss of appetite, lethargy, pain at the injection site, drooling in cats. Treating dogs that are susceptible to ivermectin toxicity with parasitic medication should be only be done under a veterinarian's supervision and with great caution.

Where can I keep my medicine?

Store it in a cool and dry place. Protect from the direct sunlight.
